The Business Council of Australia advocates expensive Super Teacher list.

So, when your child's school pays two teachers salaries for one Super Teacher, will you be disappointed if your child is not in that class?

Who will be in the Super teacher's class?

What will be the student entry qualifications?

What happens to the class sizes when one teacher collects two salaries? Surely the Government won't foot the bill.

Put simply, there are not enough teachers to go around as it is. Creating a Super Teacher status in conjunction with the merit based transfer system will ensure that selective, wealthy schools get the highest scoring students, the most experienced teachers, the best results and the most money.

The rest of us will still be selling mongrammed tea-towels to raise money for basic necessities, like classroom assets.

The purpose of a socialised education system is to share the knowledge to all children. Creating levels of skill and offering them to the highest bidder will only disadvantage one group, the children.

The business council says increasing salaries is the key to improving teaching quality. That's true, but the real challenge is attracting new teachers to the profession. School leavers now make the choice between a low paying teaching job and lucrative corporate careers in exchange for their 4 years at Uni.

Yes, pay them what it takes to attract good ones, but share their skills across the system.
